Three-Card Spread
Three draws, one stack per position, laid left to right and read in a fixed order: Past, Present, Future. The whole spread, shuffle to close, runs 5–10 minutes.
Every three-card reading breaks down into the same fixed quantities, no matter the question.
| Stage | Count | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Shuffle | 78 cards | 1–2 min |
| Cut | 3 stacks | under 30 sec |
| Draw | 3 cards, one per stack | under 1 min |
| Lay | 3 positions, left to right | under 30 sec |
| Read | 1 position, then 1 card, three times | 3–5 min |
| Total reading | 3 cards drawn | 5–10 min |
Keep the order you cut in: the first stack you set down becomes Past, the second Present, the third Future. Consistency matters more than which physical pile you start with.
You can, but reading the position's meaning before turning its card keeps the interpretation anchored to the right question instead of reacting to the card's imagery first.
Stack size has no effect on the reading. Only the top card of each of the 3 stacks is used, so an uneven cut changes nothing about the draw.
That range assumes you already know the meanings of the 78 cards well enough to read without stopping to look each one up; a first attempt with a reference table open will run longer.
